DENNIS TOWNSHIP — State Police said they are investigating a stabbing overnight Wednesday at a Ravenwood Drive home.

Troopers were at a home on the unit block of Lacivita Drive in Middle Township questioning people in connection with the stabbing in Dennis Township, Lt. Ted Schafer said.

When troopers and Belleplain EMS arrived at the home on the unit block of Ravenwood Drive after receiving a 911 hang-up call at 4:11 a.m., they found Fred Boyle, 49, stabbed in the back, Schafer said.

He was taken by helicopter to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, Atlantic City campus with serious but nonlife-threatening injuries.

It was unknown whether Boyle lived at the home, Schafer said. Several other people were also at the home. They were not identified.

State Police had people in custody, but would not specify how many.

Troopers are questioning the suspects at the State Police Woodbine Station.

This is an active investigation. More information will be released later Wednesday afternoon, Schafer said.
