Tropical storm force winds are defined by their sustained winds, the ones that blow consistently, rather than their wind gusts.

A sustained wind over 39 mph indicates tropical storm winds. It's an important number. Once winds howl at that speed, emergency personnel cannot come out to respond to calls.

Hurricane Dorian's brush by of South Jersey thankfully brought minimal damage and impacts. However, there were four places that could say tropical storm force winds were a part of their day. Here's the list, in chronological order of the storm.
