The annual Atlantic City Airshow will take place Sept. 2, and the Blue Angels are the first announced act for the annual beachfront event.

The Blue Angels last attended the Atlantic City show in 2006.

The air show’s date was announced late this morning at the 177th Fighter Wing base in Egg Harbor Township.

A Blue Angels F18 did a brief flyby this morning before landing at the base

Capt. Jeff Kuss said the formation air squadron will perform a series of maneuvers at the air show, including high-speed passes near the speed of sound.

The aircraft that landed in Egg Harbor Township this morning was the same one that slid off an icy runway during a slow-speed taxi in Maine on Thursday. There was no damage or injuries.
