Armstrong, Robert J., - 82, of Egg Harbor Township, passed away at home on September 12, 2017.Born in Philadelphia, he lived in Newtown Square, PA and Upper Township, NJ before moving to Egg Harbor Township. Rob graduated from Temple University. "Army" worked as a Master Union Carpenter before becoming an educator at the Cape May County Special Services School in Cape May Court House, NJ until retiring in 1995.He was a veteran of the United States Army and served during the Korean Conflict. Rob attended St. Gianna Molla Catholic Parish. He enjoyed spending time with his huge family and attending all the numerous activities, performances and sporting events of his children and grandchildren. Robert is survived by his wife of 64 years Peg Armstrong; his eight children Joy Gallagher {Michael), Karen Poponak {Tom), Robin Armstrong, Sherry Monzo{David), Tom Armstrong {Barbara), Peg McCarthy (Michael), Patrick Armstrong (Heather), and Christopher Armstrong (Carrie). He also leaves nineteen grandchildren: Megan Dickinson (Steve), Michele Avella (Chris), Joy Gallagher (Brian), Faith Priebs (Jon), Terry Corrigan, SPC Michael Poponak, Justine Lobb (Bryan), Dana Roche (Jim), Victoria Monzo, David Monzo, Aubrey Armstrong, Deidre Steward (Kevin), Brianna Licciardi (Jon), Bevon Armstrong, Shannon McCarthy, Katlyn Lynch (Rob), Samantha McCarthy, Christopher Armstrong and Abby Armstrong; along with sixteen great-grandchildren: Michael, Maecy, Sophie, Declan, Grayson, Asher, Aleah, Daemian, Gabriel, Elijah, Kylee, Eloise, Maddelyn, Evelyn, Olivia and Leland.Mr. Armstrong's life will be celebrated with full military honors on Tuesday, September 19, 2017 with visitation at 10:00 AM and funeral Mass at 11:00 AM celebrated by Monsignor Peter Joyce at St. Gianna Berretta Molla Parish, 1421 New Road, Northfield, NJ 08225.
