Maneri, Salvatore "Sal", - 76, of Mays Landing, NJ, passed away peacefully after a brief illness on Thursday, October 3, 2019. Sal was born in Hackensack, NJ, on December 23, 1942. He grew up in Rochelle Park where he met and married his wife Noreen in 1963 and started a family. Sal was a self-taught builder. In 1969 he built his second boat, a 36' trawler in his driveway and named it the "Nor Chris II" after his daughters. In 1974 Sal moved his family to Mays Landing, living on the Nor Chris while he built his Family Home. Sal was a very hard-working man and wonderful provider for his family throughout his life. He worked for the Bergen evening record as a Linotype operator and the Egg Harbor Yacht Company as a boat builder. In 1979 he began his career as a truck driver and was the owner operator and operator of Maneri trucking for 15 years, and later drove for National Freight of Vineland and DeStefano Trucking. After his retirement, Sal and Noreen enjoyed their summers at PennWood Campground of PA and their winters at Mystic Springs Campground of FL in their Airstream. In his leisure time he enjoyed gardening, woodworking and was an amazing cook who loved spending time with his family. He is predeceased by his parents Joseph and Marie (née: Milazzo), his sister Grace, and his son-in-law Charles Johnson. Sal will always be remembered by his loving wife of 56 years Noreen (née: Connors), his daughters Noreen Jehnke (Mark) and Christine Johnson-Boakes (Keith), his sons Joseph (Sherri) and Frank, his brother Nick (Charlene), his nephew Nick, his grandchildren; Tyler and Sophia Jehnke, Julianna and Kaila Johnson, Mazzie Maneri, Matthew and Ean Boakes, Felecia Betts and Keith Nelson, his great grandchildren Chason and Eden, and numerous friends. A viewing and celebration of Sal's life will be held on Wednesday, October 9th, from 9 to 10:45 AM, at the Boakes Funeral Home, 6050 Main St., Mays Landing.
