McGEE, LEEANN (nee Petti) - 53, of Absecon was called home suddenly by the Lord on Thursday 11/20/14. LeeAnn lived her life in service to God and was a member of Beacon Evangelical Free Church in Absecon. LeeAnn was born at Atlantic City Hospital on July 22, 1961 and was raised in Brigantine. She attended St. Philip the Apostle School and Holy Spirit High School. She met lifelong friends, Dorothy DeLucry-Byrnes, Marianne Delucry-Heenan, Barbara Murray-Angelucci, Donna Poley-Crist and Grace (Penny) Neafsey. LeeAnn was an accomplished vocalist and attended school in New York City at the American Musical and Dramatic Academy. Prior to that, she discovered her passion for singing while competing in the Miss Brigantine Pageant. While living in Brigantine she was employed by the Island Diner and in real estate. While attending school in New York City, she worked in the theater district as a waitress at Ziegfeld's Restaurant. She met and married the love of her life, Philip McGee of Northfield on April 16, 1983 and had a son, Philip Joseph McGee on August 8, 1989. Her son was her pride and joy and wished for him a faith filled, successful life. LeeAnn continued her success as the lead vocalist in her band, named, "L.A. Orchestra" where she performed in several area restaurants and for weddings and many other occasions in the 1980's and 90's. Though LeeAnn continued to perform, her passion changed from the public venue to mostly singing in church and for weddings and funerals. Most of LeeAnn's dedication focused on her church family with whom she sang, attended Sunday service, bible studies, women's groups and helped at the Beacon Closet where she tended to those in need by providing help to those in search of clothing, food and other necessities. LeeAnn also taught the children in Sunday School and worked for a Christian Thrift Store under the ownership of Sandy Cleary. LeeAnn was also a published poet. LeeAnn had a deep love for her family and friends and was especially dedicated to the children in all walks of her life, helping to guide and support them and giving them a voice in this world. LeeAnn enjoyed spending her free time at the Brigantine Beach, going to yard sales and scrapbooking. LeeAnn was predeceased by her parents, Ida and Joseph Petti, of Brigantine ,her grandparents, Eleanor and Joseph Petti Sr of Brigantine and Catherine and Vincent Romeo of Elm and by her mother and father in law, Joan and Charles McGee and many aunts and uncles. She is survived by her husband, Philip McGee and her son, Philip (PJ) McGee. She was also helped co- parent, Tina Marie for many years. LeeAnn is also survived by her only sibling, sister, Judith (Petti) Pettinelli and husband Charles, her nephew Joseph and Godmother to nephew, Nicholas Pettinelli. She leaves behind many loving cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. LeeAnn was surrounded by Christian women and good friends. She was blessed to be supported and loved by Pastor Pete Nelson and the entire Beacon Community. LeeAnn struggled in life but was always true to her faith and her search for God's Will. Relatives and friends are invited to attend LeeAnn's Life Celebration on Monday November 24, 20104 from 10 to11am at the Beacon Evangelical Free Church, 420 South 6th Ave Galloway. Memorial service will follow at 11am. Interment is private She is an organ donor with the Gift of Life Foundation. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations made in her name to the Gift of Life Foundation, or Beacon Evangelical Free Church in Absecon.
