TUOHY, DENNIS M., SR. - age 56 of Atlantic City passed away on February 3, 2015. Dennis was a lifelong resident of Atlantic City. He attended Our Lady Star of the Sea elementary school and graduated Holy Spirit High School Class of 1977. While at Holy Spirit High School he played football for 4 years and was Captain of the football team his senior year. He also rowed crew and in 1977 was in the V8 boat that won the national championship and were the fastest in the world. He went on to college on a full crew scholarship at Northeastern University in Boston. He obtained his Juris Doctorate from the University of Bridgeport, Connecticut and was admitted to the New Jersey State Bar in 1986. He was an associate with McGahn, Fris and Miller until June 1992 when he and his wife opened their own practice, Tuohy & Tuohy in Atlantic City. Dennis was a talented, ethical and respected lawyer and represented numerous municipalities. During his career he was the President of the Atlantic City Republican Club, former Solicitor to the Atlantic County Freeholder Board and former Solicitor to the Ventnor Board of Education. Dennis was a devoted family man, survived by his beloved wife, Catherine, and his adoring children Dennis Jr. and Claire who were the loves of his life and of whom he was so proud. He is also survived by his brothers: Joe (Carol) of Margate; Steve (Sue) of Ventnor; Tom (Ginny) of Egg Harbor Township and Danny of Atlantic City; mother-in-law Dorothy Honan of New York; brothers-in-law Vincent (Lorna), Stephen (Christina); sisters-in-law Ellen Honan-Baust and Christina Honan, numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. There will be an Evening Viewing tonight, Friday,( 2/6/15) from 5pm–8pm at the Gormley Funeral Home LLC, 2706 Atlantic Avenue, Atlantic City and a morning viewing from 11am, Saturday (2/7/15), at Our Lady Star of the Sea Church, 2651 Atlantic Avenue, A.C. A Mass of Christian Burial for Dennis M. Tuohy will follow at 12:00 Noon. The Rite of Committal will be offered At Holy Cross Cemetery, 5061 Harding Highway (Route 40), Mays Landing. In lieu of flowers, it is requested that donations in Dennis' name be sent to either Our Lady Star of the Sea Regional School 15 North California Avenue, Atlantic City, NJ 08401 or Holy Spirit High School Boys or Girls Crew Program, 500 South New Road, Absecon, NJ 08201.
