Abstract impressionist Hessam Abrishami will exhibit a collection of paintings, drawings and sketches titled "Colors of Romance" over Labor Day weekend at Ocean Galleries in Stone Harbor. He will be making gallery appearances and sign purchased artwork at receptions 7-10 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 2 and 3.
For years, the Persian artist has created images that capture an essence of love, according to a press release from the gallery.
The Wetlands Institute holds a Hooked on Fishing program 9:30-10:30 a.m. every Saturday through Sept. 2.
Abrishami studied art in Italy, completing his master’s degree in fine arts at the Accademia di Belle Arti Pietro Vanucci. Greatly influenced by modern masters from Cezanne to Picasso, and ancient history surrounding him in his childhood, he developed a style that results in boldly colorful paintings reflecting love and laughter, music and dance.
It was probably the best left of my career, the most fun wave ever. Tucked away on the south shore of one of the outer Hawaiian Islands, the break hit all the right notes.
Ocean Galleries at 9618 Third Avenue also offers a variety of handmade crafts from local, regional and national artists including glass, pottery, jewelry and furniture.
