The top-seeded Stockton University field hockey team defeated fourth-seeded Marywood 1-0 in the opening round of the Eastern College Athletic Conference tournament Wednesday.

The Ospreys host second-seeded Juniata College (9-7) in the semifinals Saturday.

Stockton’s goal came just less than four minutes into the game. Senior back Victoria Caiazzo (Southern Regional H.S.) scored with an assist from junior forward Jennelle Long. It was her eighth goal of the season. The Ospreys out shot Marywood 16-6.

Emily Gilligan had three saves for Stockton, while Kerri Mountz had six for Marywood.

With the win, the Ospreys improve to 13-6, while Marywood falls to 12-8.
