Barnegat High School, the 16th seed in the Shore Conference Tournament, defeated No. 17 Middletown South 57-47 in the first round, making history for the Bengals with their first Shore tournament win in the school’s history on Tuesday.

Carson Francisco led the scoring with 22 points, with 16 coming in the second half. Mike Revello scored nine points while Brian Finucan and Thomas Krey added seven points apiece.

Barnegat will play against No. 1 Ranney on Friday in the second round.
