Maitland Demand scored two goals and had an assist to help Southern Regional defeat Middletown North 3-0 in a Shore Conference Tournament first-round field hockey game Saturday.

The third-seeded Rams (14-1) are ranked No. 5 in The Press Elite 11.

Erika Barbera scored one goal, and Lauren Bakker made one save.

Amanda Hallard scored for 14th-seeded Middletown North (7-7-1), and Jacey Tammaro had 10 saves.

Southern will host 11th-seeded Colts Neck on Tuesday in a tournament quarterfinal game.

Kacey Jones and Aaliyah Baez each scored one and had an assist for host Buena (4-9).

Lily Sheppard scored the other goal, and Andrielys Lopez also had an assist. Giovanna Staropoli recorded the shutout with two saves.

Julia Cook, Reese Bracken and Maya Critchfield scored one goal apiece to lead the Caper Tigers (11-2) on Friday.

Emily Tunney and Sarah Brosman scored one goal each for Oakcrest (4-9).

Jaclyn Charbonneau and Sophia Gresham scored two goals apiece for host Ocean City (12-2-1) on Friday.

Lindsey Selert had 13 saves.

Caitlyn Decker scored, and Addy McCarthy made 11 saves for visiting Red Bank Regional (7-6-1).

Southern will play at No. 2-seeded Red Bank Catholic at 4 p.m. Tuesday.

Delaney Lappin scored the winning goal for host Ocean City (11-4-1) in the eighth minute of the second overtime, and Faith Slimmer assisted.

The Red Raiders are ranked 10th in the Elite 11.

Tanis McDonnell made seven saves for the shutout. McKenna Dalfonso had 10 saves for Clearview (10-3-1).

Gabby D’Ottavio scored the winning goal in the first half off an assist by Jenna Lenko.

Bridget Gilliano made eight saves for the shutout.

Buena improved to 9-3-3, and Clayton dropped to 9-7.

Hannah Urbaczewski led host Atlantic Christian (6-2-1) with three goals and an assist.

Lola Oguntuase added a goal and two assists, while Chloe Vogel had a goal and Rebecca Darragh had an assist.

Pinelands wins, loses

The Wildcats (18-2) lost to North Hunterdon 2-0 (25-19, 25-20) and beat host St. John Vianney 2-0 (25-22, 25-23).

Kayla Thornton had eight kills and 18 digs for Pinelands against North Hunterdon, while Emma Capriglione had eight kills. Adrianna Dancisin added 24 digs, and Victoria Pickel had 20 assists.

Thornton led with 20 kills and 13 digs against St. John Vianney. Kati Coverdale also had 13 digs, and Pickel added 28 assists.


The Rams (24-3) beat host St. John Vianney 2-0 (25-11, 25-23) in a quad meet and lost to North Hunterdon 2-1 (17-25, 25-23, 25-20).

Gianna Schiattarella had eight kills against St. John Vianney, while Stephanie Soares had 22 assists and 12 service points.Jess Sprankle had four aces and 14 digs.

In the match against North Hunterdon (19-1), Schiattarella led with 12 kills. Soares had 25 assists, and Zoe Deakyne had 18 digs.

Moorestown 2,

Absegami 0

Moorestown defeated Absegami 25-23, 25-17 on Friday. Kaylin Flukey led the Braves (9-5) with seven kills, six digs and three aces. Brianna Camp added six digs.
