Williamstown at St. Augustine football

The St. Augustine Prep football season ended Saturday with a 16-8 loss to St. Joseph Montvale in the state Non-Public Group IV quarterfinals.

The Hermits finished 7-4. Last week, the Hermits got their first home playoff victory since 1995.

On Saturday, Charlie Chiango scored the Hermits’ touchdown on a 74-yard interception return. They completed the two-point conversion on a pass from Chris Allen to Justin Shorter.

Allen completed 8 of 14 passes for 51 yards.

Te’Rai Powell had 26 carries for 175 yards for St. Joseph. Angelo Guglielmello made field goals of 27, 32 and 31 yards.

Shane Stewart scored St. Joseph’s only TD on a 28-yard pass from Alaimo.

Absegami 41, Howell 6: Freshman Ray Weed threw three touchdowns passes and had one rushing touchdown to help Absegami High School defeat Howell 41-6 Thursday night in a regional crossover football game.

Weed completed 4 of 10 passes for 160 yards passing and had nine carries for 116 yards.

Juwan Glover had two catches for 95 yards and two touchdowns for the Braves (4-5). Jordan Marcucci had a 56-yard TD catch, and Luscious Brown ran four times for 58 yards and one score.

Trevor Brenner returned an interception for a 90-yard touchdown, and A.J. Silipinia kicked five extra points.
