The Holy Spirit High School girls track and field team made school history Tuesday as its first girls team to win the South Jersey Non-Public B Tournament.

Holy Spirit defeated 18 other teams, including St. Rose, which had tied with the Spartans just before the 4x400 meter relay, the last event of the meet.

The Spartans had a team score of 88 and won the 400-meter relay in 4 minutes, 10.38 seconds to clinch the victory. The team also won the 800-meter (10:16.44) relay.

Our Lady of Mercy Academy placed sixth overall with 27 team points, while Wildwood Catholic (19) placed 10th. St. Joseph (6) finished 16th.

Ariana Mack of Holy Spirit won the Non-Public B discus with a throw of 97 feet, 8 inches. Julia Bannan placed third with a throw of 96-06. Bannan also finished second in the 1,600-meter run.

The Villagers’ Iyanla Kollock won the 100 (12:64) and 200-meter (26:11) dashes.

The Wildwood Catholic boys placed second in the Non-Public B with 76 points, and Holy Spirit (53) placed third. St. Joseph (7) finished 12th.

The Crusaders’ Charles Fields won the 100-meter dash in 11:02 and the 200-meter dash in 22:12. Ahmad Brown of Holy Spirit won the 400 dash in 49:48.

Wildwood Catholic won the 100 relay in 44:50, and Holy Spirit won the 400 relay in 3:28.66.

St. Augustine Prep finished fourth in the S.J. Non-Public A meet with a team score of 46. The Hermits’ Sincere Rhea won the 110-meter hurdles in 14:34 and the 400 hurdles (55:05).

Tommy Franks defeated Joe Toth 6-3, 6-0 in first singles for Southern (15-4).

Other matches: Singles: Eloin Dunwoody (S) d. Zack DeMetro 6-4, 6-2; Chris DeMetro (J) d. Logan Van Liew 6-2, 6-4. Doubles: Mike Danski-Matt Danski (J) d. Dan Sullivan-Joseph Dunwoody 7-5, 6-2; Anthony DelRio-Burke Flynn (S) d. Leo Huang-Rich Chan 6-2, 6-4.

Millville 4, Absegami 1

Millville swept the singles matches to beat Absegami.

The Thunderbolts’ Ralph Martin won a tough match at second singles over Kyle An 6-7 (5-7), 6-0, (10-4). Dustin Chairello won first singles against Andy Giang 6-3, 6-1, and David Crain won 6-0, 6-1 at third singles against Karan Pandya.

The Braves’ Yash Patel and Shawn Dinh got the team’s only win at second doubles against David Woody and Ayden Simpkins-Staples 6-2, 6-1.

Nick Spitz shot a 41 to lead Barnegat (9-6) at Atlantis Golf Course, par-36. Other Bengals’ scorers were Maxwell Lares (48), Kyle Smith (49) and Matthew Kulpa (53).

Donovan Catholic scorers were Francis Hohwald (43), Brian Edwards (45), Eric He (49) and Evan Santos (53). Donovan Catholic is now 7-7.
