Second-seeded Southern Regional High School (28-4) defeated No. 34 Union City 25-6, 25-8 to advance to the quarterfinals of the New Jersey Group IV tournament on Tuesday.

Kari Klimek had six kills, and Emma Gildea had four for the Rams. Sarah Gildea had four aces and a kill. Stephanie Soares finished with 12 assist and an ace. Jess Sprankle had nine digs. Southern will host 15th-seeded Union on Thursday.

Roxbury (14-13) defeated Absegami 25-12, 25-12. The Braves fell to 15-6. No further information was available.

Robin Spector scored twice for Mainland Regional (13-6), while Michaela Brady made 11 saves.

Grace Torvato scored two goals with one assist for Clearview (17-3-1). Ali Palumbo scored one goal with one assist, and Julianna Smith made nine saves. Clearview is No. 10 in The Press Elite 11.

Hailey Ferry, Tori Griffiths and Madison Maguire scored one goal apiece for Kingsway (19-0-1), the No. 3 team in The Press Elite 11. Maddy Ferry made four saves for the shutout.
