Wildwood Crest native Joe Maloy finishes the Olympic triathlon.

Wildwood Crest Olympic triathlete Joe Maloy followed his impressive performance at the Rio Olympics last month by finishing second Sunday in the Beijing International Triathlon in China.

Maloy, a 2004 Wildwood Catholic High School graduate, finished 57 seconds behind Olympic gold medalist Alistair Brownless of Great Britain Sunday. Brownlee completed the 1,500-meter swim, 40-kilometer bike and 10K run in one hour, 52 minutes, 30 seconds. Maloy finished in 1:53:27.

Maloy nearly caught Brownlee during the run. He was timed in 34:23 to Brownlee's 35:54.

Maloy, 30, placed 23rd overall in Rio de Janeiro and was the top American finisher.
