Former Cumberland County College baseball player Will Latcham was taken in the 17th round of the MLB First-Year Player Draft by the St. Louis Cardinals on Wednesday.

Latcham, a 6-foot-2, 200-pound right-handed pitcher, was the 514th overall pick.

The Coastal Carolina junior from Philadelphia went 3-0 with 29 strikeouts in 25 2/3 innings this season.

He spent the previous two years at Cumberland, including a stellar sophomore season in which he led all of National Junior Collegiate Athletic Association Division III with 128 strikeouts, going 6-3 with a 1.84 ERA in 13 games.

He played high school baseball for Cardinal O’Hara in Springfield, Pennsylvania.
