Matt Szczur, 28, is a 2007 Lower Cape May Regional High School graduate from Lower Township. He earned a World Series title ring with the 2016 Cubs and was traded last year to the San Diego Padres.

Sunday: Went 1 for 2 with a run scored in a 10-1 win over the Giants. Szczur entered the game as a pinch-hitter in the sixth inning. He struck out but stayed in the game and played left field.

Monday: Struck out as a pinch-hitter for starting pitcher Robbie Erlin during the bottom of the third inning in a 10-3 loss to the Dodgers.

Tuesday: The series resumes at 10:10 p.m. Left-hander Alex Wood (0-2, 5.09) is scheduled to start for Los Angeles. Szczur is hitting .286 (2 for 7) against him.

Stats: Szczur is hitting .267 (4 for 15) with three runs scored and one stolen base in 12 games.
