The WWE is coming back to Atlantic City this summer.
Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Atlantic City, which is scheduled to open June 28, will host a WWE Live card at its 6,000-seat Hard Rock Live at Etess Arena on Monday, Aug. 20.
It will be the WWE’s first appearance in Atlantic City since it had a Boardwalk Hall show March 12, 2016.
World Wrestling Entertainment, formerly known as the World Wrestling Federation, once held some of its biggest cards in Atlantic City. It held WrestleMania IV and V at Boardwalk Hall in 1988 and 1989.
“Having been involved with Wrestlemania IV and V (while working for Trump Plaza Hotel Casino), I can tell you it’s one of the most fun events to stage from a production standpoint,” Hard Rock Vice President of Entertainment Bernie Dillon said Sunday in a phone interview. “(WWE CEO) Vince (McMahon) and his people are great to work with, and I can’t wait to work with them again.”
The main event is scheduled to be a tag-team match featuring WWE champion A.J. Styles and Daniel Bryan taking on Shinsuke Nakamura and Big Cass. Other performers scheduled to appear include WWE Smackdown women’s champion Carmella, Smackdown tag team champions the Bludgeon Brothers, The Miz, Charlotte Flair, Samoa Joe, The Usos, Asuka, The New Day, Naomi, Sin Cara, Rusev, The Bar and more.
Exact bouts will be announced at a later date.
Tickets will go on sale 10 a.m. Friday. Prices will range from $25 to $100 and will be available at hardrockhotelatlanticcity.com.
Boxing will hit the Etess Arena on Aug. 4 when WBO light-heavyweight champion Sergey Kovalev meets unbeaten Eleider Alvarez on HBO Championship Boxing.
